Gary Sancilio -together with his business partner Nick Preddice- oversees all aspects of managing the business and its growing sales organization.
Gary brings his unique personality, style, and perspective to counseling his financial planning clients. Unlike financial service professionals who build their practices by focusing on particular product knowledge, Gary focuses his practice on building lasting client relationships first. From there, he works with each and every individual or family to develop a comprehensive financial plan, and – if appropriate – to implement particular investing or product strategies that help families accomplish their financial objectives.
Gary's career path as a financial coach has always run parallel with his interest in the law. He holds his Juris Doctor degree* from St. John's University of Law. Upon admission to the New York Bar, he served as an Appellate Court Attorney, as an Assistant District Attorney in NYC, and as an attorney in private practice. His years of legal experience support a keen awareness of how financial and estate analysis, wealth management and transfers, elder law care planning, estate administration, estate and gift taxation, business and succession planning are all integral parts of the comprehensive planning process.
He also collaboratively works with clients' tax and legal counsel to help all pieces of a financial planning puzzle fit seamlessly together. Though he no longer is a practicing attorney,* he remains a member of the Trusts and Estates Section of the New York State Bar Association.
Gary began his financial services career in 1987, working for several firms, including John Hancock and AYCO, now a subsidiary of Goldman Sachs. Realizing that he and Nick Preddice held a similar passion for client service and comprehensive planning, they partnered to launch The Affinity Group, LLC in 2002.
Since the inception of The Affinity Group, Gary has also been dedicated to serving the community by supporting a number of local charitable organizations with time and financial support. His current philanthropic endeavors are channeled through his active Board participation in the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which was established to grant wishes to children with life-threatening conditions.
